Are you interested in helping to deliver employability support in the Employability and Placement Hubs on Campus? We are looking for a small team of Employability and Placement Hub Assistants to be the first point of contact for queries relating to careers/employability along with some administrative work involved too. You’ll be signposting to resources and services around the University and beyond to assist students in their job/placement search and to develop their skills and experience.
Job Description
The role will include:

As part of an inclusive and welcoming service, provide a first point of contact to help students access and apply for work experience opportunities including part time jobs, placements and to signpost to other employability and careers support/events.

To provide excellent customer service and front line services to students and graduates; dealing with enquiries in an efficient, friendly and professional manner.

Administrative tasks to support the Hubs which could include accurate and timely job vacancy processing on Career Connect and responding to emails from a variety of stakeholders.

Liaising with employers regarding the submission of high quality vacancies, events and system issues.

Ensuring the Terms and Conditions of Advertising and GDPR are adhered to when managing Career Connect data

Proactive vacancy research - actively looking for part time work opportunities and contacting employers about these.

Contributing to the promotion of the Employability and Placement Hubs at relevant events as and when required.

Keeping up to date with services, resources and events offered by the University Careers & Employability Service and other organisations

To carry out small projects as and when required e.g social media creation
Person Specification
Skills required – Essential:
-
Excellent customer service skills (including active listening), with the ability to communicate effectively with students from diverse backgrounds, and an efficient approach to responding to enquiries both in person or via email.

Administration experience demonstrating accuracy and an ability to follow procedures.

IT skills - good attention to detail with experience of data processing and Google suites to maintain accurate and meaningful records and communicate with students and colleagues whilst following University procedures relating to data protection and confidentiality.

Proactive customer engagement skills to generate interest in the Employability and Placement Hub services.

Able to work independently to develop knowledge of resources and facilitate the student-facing service with minimal supervision.

Able to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively on joint tasks and projects.

An interest in student employability/ Careers and Employability activity or engaged with employability projects either within the University or beyond.
Further Details:
Hours: Approximately 8 -12 hours per week on a rota basis to be agreed and arranged if offered the work. The hours/days offered will depend on the overall availability of the Hub Assistant team however we would ideally like each Hub Assistant to work a minimum of 8 hours per week.
Location: You will work across our multiple Employability and Placement Hubs on campus as part of a team of Hub Assistants to staff the drop-in service.
You must be available to start training/work in person w/c 14th September until the Christmas vacation. There will also be some online health and safety training modules to complete over the summer (although you will have a deadline to complete these it will be flexible as to when you do them.)

Training - there will be multiple compulsory training sessions in person on campus for all students week commencing 14th September. You must be able to attend these training sessions.
